Pardon the dust

Pardon the dust, just moved the database engine to SQL 2005 and making tweakages to the SQL and what not to get the performance a smidge more out of the server....

We have a new server in our future as soon as I can find a good price on a server.  For a time during the dot com bust of the bay area you could get a great deal from used server equipment. Not sure you can find quite the same good deals these days with the dot com/bay area being in another dot come boom again (for now anyway).

I'm not sure what type of horsepower you need Susan, or if you prefer something other than Dell, but I'll toss this out just in case.  I'd recommend checking out the Dell Outlet site, www.dell.com/.../default.aspx, for your server.  They generally have some pretty decent deals.

I just picked up a new PowerEdge 840 from them just before Memorial Day to use as my Virtual Server system that I'm setting up for testing.  It's a 1.6GHZ Dual Core Xeon Processor, 6GB of RAM, 4 80gb hot-swap SATA 7200rpm drives in a RAID5 array (PERC 5 controller not software), 3yr Next Business Day hardware warranty and it was $1241.

June is the end of their fiscal year so they should have some pretty good deals showing up over the next few weeks.
