It's 10:30 a.m. for Vista
Vista is at 10:30 a.m.....but not at noon where it was earlier in the beta ... what am I talking about? The dial of security. The balance we choose between security and full business functionality.... Mark Minasi makes the point in his Vista audio set that there's a balance between security and business/backwards compatibility ...and how there's a dial between 9 a.m (backwards compatibility) and 3 p.m. (locked down). He says that while we could lock down even XP... that Vista gives us more security features ... and while the defaults are good, you can tweak them even better...
75 to 85% of Vista is deployment or security related he says....(Mark even makes the discussion on licensing palatable ;-)
But the point that there's a balance between Security and .... well... work... was echoed the other day by Jim Allchin on the Vista Blog....
