Third party certs for phones - revisited

Looking for a third party cert that works with ALL PHONES, ALL THE TIME?

https://partner.microsoft.com/global/partner/40027352

Then don't do Godaddy as it does have some limitations... As it will only do 5.0 w/MSFP only.... but if you can limit your phone selection to that...

https://www.godaddy.com/gdshop/ssl/ssl.asp?isc=microsoft then the SBSized Godaddy one does indeed work...

(and P.S. ... as a fyi to a certain person.... I did not find that link using google... but via Windows Live search instead... I knew it was there but couldn't find it using google.... interesting huh?)

Just a note from personal experience: you can, in fact, use the inexpensive GoDaddy certs on a pre-Windows Mobile 5.0+MSFP device, as long as you can upload the root CA and intermediate CA certs to the device. We ran into this precise situation with the T-mobile SDA, which apparently doesn't have an MSFP ROM image available. Once I got the certs exported in the right format (and now I don't remember which format that was), we had no problems getting them installed and getting the device to work.

Even though the Smartphone devices can be locked down a lot harder than PocketPC devices, most carriers appear to be avoiding going to that level of lockdown.

Saw this on Susan's Blog here . This is a great idea for SBS users where the certificate is self-signed
