Repeat after me.... you don't patch over RWW

The Outlook Web Access (OWA) form stops responding after you install Internet Explorer 7.0 and the S/MIME control on a client.

That is an Exchange patch that's up on WSUS.  That's an Exchange patch that pooches RWW as it takes down IIS.

That is an Exchange patch that needs a reboot.

If you use RWW as your "patching portal" you might get nailed with a patch like this that takes down IIS under your feet before you finish the patch process and get to the "reboot now" window.

Therefore I always consider RWW an "Access portal", not a patching portal.

TS/VPN is a patching portal.

RWW is merely for access.

Got that?

P.S.... being SBS has nothing to do with this... RWW is a web site.. you don't patch using a web site... use the right tool for the job... terminal server access.  Got that?

ahhh, the SBS owners gets burned again by having everything on one box.  Ah well, Microsoft will eventually figure out patching for the little guy.

# Hardly unique to SBS

Can't say I understand how the issue Susan explained is somehow unique to SBS.
