I see dots and arrows in my document ....
"Do you know Office?"
Well not as well as our Secretaries...
"Well I have a paragraph mark on a Word document and can't figure out how to turn it off!"
The Wordgurus always leave that little paragraph icon on.. and quite honestly I find it annoying..

In your document, you see dots where there should be spaces, arrows where there should be tabs, and other characters that you don't expect.
These symbols are visible when you show the formatting marks in Word.
Hide the formatting marks.
- On the Home tab, in the Paragraph group, click Show/Hide.
