Send this link to vendors still requiring admin rights
Details how to develop User Account Control (UAC) compliant applications for Windows Vista.
If you have vendors that still need administrator rights to run their software, do me a big favor? Send them that link. Because they need to be prepared for Vista. One of the ways I reduce risk around my firm is not allow folks in the office that don't need to update to have admin rights. Take them back. But sometimes it's hard to hack up the programs that demand admin rights (see the website at www.threatcode.com for what I'm talking about).
So if you have a line of business app still demanding admin rights.... forward this blog post to them.. tell them to knock it off...that you aren't going to be accepting that in the future so it's time they start coding correctly now.
