So which wifi was I on anyway?

So I'm here at the Hotel Max for the weekend going back home tomorrow night for a quick get together of all the folks that put together WindowsSecrets.com and initially I hooked onto a Netgear wireless... one problem... I have no idea who owns that Netgear that I initially hooked to.. but I've hooked to the one that is officially the hotels.

So just because something is open doesn't mean that one should be hanging off of it....

P.S.  Nice wide screen Dell monitor in the room as a TV screen... it reminds me that I need to get a better TV monitor at home...

Imagine my horror when I was told that my new employer's wireless network (which was unsecured) had been detectable from some rooms in the hotel next door (a member of the Accor chain, and very busy).  I shudder to imagine how many passers-through were able to hook into that wireless network before I locked it down.

Location - small, one road Wisconsin town

A few weeks ago our office was asked to assist in helping get a check imaging and online customer access setup with a deadline of  August 7 (they called us on the 8th).  Long story on the rest of this but... I walked in and started a walk around to see what they had. Sitting in the back office was a combo DSL modem / router / wireless AP. Connected to this was a wireless Linksys router. I went out to my truc which was parked on the highway and gee look at this I can access their network, and the Internet... Needless to say I have thought about burying my money in my backyard.
