The guy is an accountant... can't you tell?

The Security Awareness blog .. Ma, Pa and the Corporate Clueless.... has a post about the Apple ads.. you know the ones where you can just tell the PC is a beancounter.

I mean ...just look at the guy... beancounter... total beancounter isn't it?  And then he talks about using spreadsheets and having apps like a clock.. and a calculator...

While I disagree with the impression that the Apple guy can't get a virus... hands down I have to give Apple major kudos for really cute ads that everyone goes I LOVE THOSE ADS.  Even with the boring beancounter representing the PC... they are funny and get a message across.

I love the Microsoft ads that make me cry (1)... I love the "empower your employees" ads of Microsoft... but Microsoft.... those Office dinosaur ones..... there's just no polite way to say how bad those ads are in polite company.

There's just nothing at all pleasing about seeing office staff with ugly dinosaur heads stuck on the top.  They just don't tell a compelling story to me.

(1) remind me I gotta find that old small business ad that made me go sniff sniff..but some on this page are close... but dump the dinos, okay?

I want a SBS2003 Commercial that says, all the Features of it, (Not the usually Microsoft ads that are written for Fortune 500 companies.)

Yes the MAC ads are cute...

Maybe Apple should have chosen a different analogy - for instance, noting that humans can't catch diseases that afflict birds. Okay, so humans can't spread diseases that they catch from birds. Okay, so humans can't yet spread diseases that they catch from birds, but once that happens, we'll still be perfectly safe, because we're not birds, in some magical way that protects us.
