The bleeding edgers

After reading this blog post....

Windows Mobile 5 on Audiovox SMT 5600:

and this one... and checking in with the guy that I know who has done this to his phone..... I think I'll stay on my Windows Mobile 3 and not blow up anything....

But if you want to flash your SMT5600 up to Mobile 5... it "can" be done.... just have the First Aid kit at the ready...

I think you made the right choice. I had the option of upgrading my Audiovox SMT-5600 to Windows Mobile 5, and then thought "Why?" Most of the great features of WM5 come from the tight integration of (new) hardware and software, so if you upgrade an existing device you won't get faster network speeds(EDGE/EVDO), persistent storage, USB 2.0, remote reset, etc.

Instead, I got a Cingular 2125 (aka HTC Faraday, similar to the HTC Tornado but without WiFi) and love it. You might want to get an SP5 and upgrade to MSFP for push email; it works really well!

Her is why... MS office.  You can't edit msoffice documents without WM5 and some of us can't afford to spend $300 on a 2125.
