ISA 2004 sp2 (do not do this remotely and read the release notes)

ISA server 2004 sp2 just released on the download site and since we are READING the release notes before installing...they say...

If ISA Server services are installed, ISA Server will enter lockdown mode during installation. Following installation, the ISA Server computers or array members will have to be restarted

That means... you either have that SBSPodcast recommended setting where your IP address is a trusted network.... or better yet, you don't do this SP remotely at all and you do any firewall service packs on site.

ISA SP2 new features do not affect SBS functionality. They are specifically for Enterprise customers only. Such features include:
- BITS caching (you all probably use WSUS)
- SQM support (not used in SBS)
- HTTP compression

The only benefits would be the included hotfixes.

I just updated our ISA 2004 Enterprise Edition Test Array servers. I updated one vi RDP with /console switch. The other vi straight RDP. No issues for either. After the reboots, all is well and I saw the new customer feedback program.

As with SP1 I used to update all my servers remotely with the switches, I personally in this case use "/passive /forcerestart" and that do the job.

I just installed ISA2K4 SP2 onto our SBS server via RDP with no problems. Didn't lose connectivity during the install. After the reboot everything looks good.
