So we're a bit high maintainance females

You would think Anne and I would fight over the TV station or where to eat or which sink which one of us is going to use in the hotel room..but no..we fight over the high speed access.  Thus this time in my geek travels I brought with me a tiny [and I do mean tiny] Dlink Wireless AP that broadcasts the room's connection.

So for those folks on the 17th floor of the Spa Tower at the Bellagio...no the hotel doesn't exactly offer wireless connectivity... you just have two geeky gals that hate sharing one wired connection so we made it easier to connect both of our laptops.

And yes, it's reallllyyyyy tiny.

Are you saying size matters?

Did you and how did you secure this unofficial WAP?

Aren't these great Susan? I've got NetGear's version and carry it in my bag all the time. It comes in handy at client sites as well. I can wander around their site with my Tablet taking notes with no wires. One of the nicest features of the unit is an option for "single-user" mode. In this mode it will only allow one wireless user to access it. That means while I'm connected no one else can get on the unit helping make it a little more secure. It's initiated with a physical switch that essentially turns the unit "Invisible" as my Tablet will get it's DHCP address from the server instead of from the router. It also prevents access to it's management interface in this mode. In multi-user mode it functions like most of it's bigger "cousins" with support for DHCP services, port forwarding, WPA support, MAC filtering etc.
