This procedure doesnt work if you have installed sbs service pack1. Any idea as to how I can recover the management console? BTW the problem only occured when I installed sp1. I tried removing it but still got a message telling me that Im attempting to install an earlier version than the current version.

Hello,

You can do it.

Go to add/remove components, select windows windows small business server.

Remove administration

Restart

Go to add/remove components, select windows windows small business server.

Reinstall administration

Another way perhaps, extract SP1, go to cd1, i386 ... setup.exe

Bonne chance

Hey - this is great. I did have one question though... I have a server that has been in service for a while. I have inherited quite a mess - no admin tools, no SP1 installed, Dell system, very funky/minimal install. Also missing the remote web workplace and much of the system. There is no backup server so I can't afford to have it go down or have the luxury of pulling it off throwing a backup domain server on and then swapping out once I have a good server. If I run the install CD as you outlined, will it affect any settings existing in the system? I heard that I may have some stuff get wiped out (like admin profiles). Is this possibly the simple "no issues" solution? I am trying to avoid working all night/weekend if at all possible. (praying and hoping). Your expertise (as mine lacks with SBS) is well appreciated from one computer chick to another!
