I heard about the news on Paul Britton Jr's blog. The Publisher's note, seems to imply that a contextual news search tool will be implemented in the upgraded version of MSNBC. This reminds me a lot of the Y!Q technology.

Nope sorry, msn did not invent it. Though msn Messenger 7 officially is the first app to let you display the song and artist you're playing in Windows Media Player, they certainly did not come up with the concept. I believe msn Plus plugin did that a long time before. YMedia is an addon for Y! Messenger (no spyware, unlike msn Plus...) which does the same.

With other yahoo followers, we've been quite amazed at the lack of promotion of yahoo! Plus suscription. The service was first announced on Cnet News on November 14th in 2002. It was officially released on December 8th 2003.
