Getting my (impacted) wisdom teeth out in 3 days - please tell me your horror stories!

I figure if I can hear enough horror stories anything I go through can't be as bad.

So scare the hell out of me now!

Here's a start

Andrew Green (Eclipse Group, Melbourne)- there's a MASSIVE nerve ending under your tooth in the back there - and when they yank it all out it feels like they've ripped your testicles out there too .

Can't say I have a horror story.. I had all 4 ripped out and I was eating sandwiches a few hours later.. very little bruising and swelling that went away after a week.. i'm not going to say it didn't hurt – the weirdest bit is waking up in recovering and having your mouth full of teabags or something to help clot the massive holes that are left - the feeling of blood trickling down the back of your throat is not nice either - it's great for getting the sympathy vote from everyone - bleed it for all it's worth ;)
I must say that my sister had it much worse - the side of her face turned yellow and she looked like a chipmunk for two weeks.

Was that because of the operation or just unfortunate breeding?

WOW... people make it sound so bad! Worst part for me was having to eat in a crafy matter to keep food away from the holes. I had 4 removed, and still have 2 more left (but so far up, just below my eyes, that they may never come out).

Take the pain meds. Oh, and don't do one thing I did: I thought what I kept biting down on was the cotton... nope... ended up biting a huge chunck out of my inner lip thinking it was cotton I was chewing on. The local anaesthesia hadn't worn off yet.

Yeah I lost feeling in my lower jaw and tongue for a few hours after the surgery, and when AI got feeling back the pain was horrible. I didnt eat for 4 days and was on a lot of pain killers and antibiotics.

i got all four of my wisdom teeth pulled out yesturday. the bottom two were impacted so i had to get stitches in them. dont worry about the iv i was like hyperventilating before i got it but it only took one second and it didn't hurt at all. After the surgey my mouth was killing me. I was nonstop heavy bleeding for 6 hours and i threw up blood twice all over myself. Just make sure that you bite down on the gauze they put in your mouth!! Today it still really hurts. Just take your medicine and use ice packs to soothe the pain. You should be okay.

I wasnt bad at all...i had these terrible pictures of waking up with knives in my mouth and in terrible pain. all i can remeber was the IV and then waking up with gauze in my mouth and feeling drunk. then when i got home i noticed my whole face was numb and my lower lip stayed numb till late at nite, which was kina a pain in the ass cansidering i was drooling everywhere. They gave me Viacodine, which made me happy. the only thing that sucks majorly is the face that all i can eat is pudding and eggs

It sounds terrible!! aughh I have the same feelings as JOHN did..my friend was getting a tooth taken out of the roof of her mouth once, and she woke up halfway through! augh that had better not happen to me!

I just got my 4 wisdom teeth out yesterday at 2:00 and it really wasn't bad. I only had local anasthetic because I had to drive home and be able to function that night. If you're squeamish you probably want to be put under though... there's no pain but the noises and prying could be discomforting. I haven't bothered with any tylenol or anything. It was mildly sore last night, but this morning when I woke up I felt like normal. My cheeks were slightly swollen last night too but went away this morning. The worst thing about it all was the bleeding. It slowed down after a few hours and stopped completely overnight. Once that stopped all was good. In fact, I felt good enough to have a few shots of rum that night (...which isn't suggested) The other bad part of it all is that I'm stuck eating soup, jello, and food like that for a few days. In conclusion... it's not that bad, don't worry about it.

My turn, my turn!!!
I bled for over a week, and actually still bleed a little every morning, even 2 weeks later. I lost massive amounts of blood and yeah you have to swallow it all. Now the teeth that were right by the wisdom teeth are the ones that hurt the most, it's like their pushing AWAY from the other teeth, to reclaim their lost space. And of course I have to deals with having huge holes in my jaws, getting food stuck in them everyday... I guess I'll have to call my dentist to see what's up!

Im going to pass out and just die...........
wish me luck pleeeeeeeeeease!
Oh and mine are COMPLETE BONE IMPACTIONS, so he said I am probably going to lose the feeling in my bottom lip forever.

Don't worry, its not that bad. The only thing is if you have ur tooth like touching that huge nerve, that takes longer to heal. Honestly, during the operation, the only thing that hurts is the giant needle they stick in ur mouth 4 times (i took all 4 out)and its a bitch to get back to normal. I look like martin short when he's dresses up like that fat guy, but just one side of the face. its actually hilarious, but its annoying as hell, to not be able to chew. Well thank god for supplementary shakes, listen, it aint that bad, i know someone who took all 4 out in 10 mins and was eating normal foods the next day. Good luck to u and just remember, the sooner u do it, the sooner it'll be over with!
Good luck to ya!

I'm getting all 4 of mine out in about 8 1/2 hours. I've heard the horror stories but from what my fiancee said is that all you have is a little bleeding for a while (like a few days) and you can't eat everything you want to (basically jello and soup). I hate needles too but I've had IVs before and they hurt for a second but thats all. Nothing like giving blood!!! I'll never do that again. But you'll do fine. If you absolutely hate needles just look away and think of the beach or soemthing calming. unfortuantely for me the only way for me to stay calm is to watch the needle go in. I dunno I'm weird. But to all who read this and are getting their wisdoms out good luck cuz I know I'll need it too. :-D

It isn't that bad. I had all 4 of mine (bony impacted) out on Tuesday, by Wednesday I was eatting mashed potatos and other soft foods, and today, Thursday I'm eatting poptarts. The vicodin doesn't work for me though, which is a major problem because without it working I have a lot of pain. The IV was the worst part, because I hate needles (but like tattoos..kinda weird?), but they give you the iv, put an oxygen mask on your nose, and you are out in moments. Waking up isn't bad either, just be careful not to chew on your cheek. Make sure you keep ice on to limit swelling, I'm starting to look like an overweight chipmunk, which isn't good since I do go back to work on Sunday. Just make sure you clean your mouth after the first 24housr a few times a day and after all meals. I suggest just sleeping for awhile, or staying up 2 nights before going, so you sleep for the next 2 days..I wish I had done that, but it isn't as bad as people make it out to be.

I know this is of no use to the original writer but to people like me searching:

I had all for of my wisdom teeth out three days ago. I was soooo worried but honestly it wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be.
In fact getting them out was somewhat...fun? I didn't feel a thing since I was knocked out (and the doctor I had froze the skin where they put the IV so I just looked away and didn't feel a thing)and when I woke up I had nice ice packs on my face and just felt at peace knowing it was all over.
The worst was yet to come. I found out even if I eat the meds they gave me made me vomit so I had to go all these past days without pain killers. Not cool. But I suppose since I'm 17, young, and healthy I've been rather quick to heal.
My advice:
-Don't worry about the whole getting your wisdom teeth out part. Thats easy as pie...Honest!
-Don't eat noodles if you can help it...I don't know but for me it just made me want to vomit.
-Apple sauce...serious if you like it eat it. I have to say this was my saving grace...I love apple sauce so I didn't feel like I was missing out...that and pudding.
-Now, I couldn't take the whole salt wash BS they tell you to do. Don't listen to me...but if you honestly can't take it at least rinse with warm water.(I'll check with the Doctor when I go back to see if its reeealy needed...but I just can't take it.)
-For the first two days you can use Ice but by the third day you might feel pain and ice just wont do the trick...its because you need some heat trust me...or at least thats how it worked for me. So by the third day if you have pain and ice isn't working...you need heat!
-SLEEP!!! Stay up late and then just sleep sleep sleep.

I was luck enough to not have that much swelling(although its only my third day)but I plan to be out and about tomorrow. *crossing fingers* I hope.

I just can't wait to eat hard food again...*dreams*

I got mine out about 4 days ago. I was really freaked out about the going under part, because I really thought I wouldn't wake up. It felt like a quick nap and then I was outta there. I was acting like a drunken idiot though because the anithesia had a weird and relaxing affect on me! My sister was scared of me but now just laughs whenever she retells, retells, and retells this story. Supposedly I couldn't walk straight and I kept on being really annoying and making weird gestures and faces at her and constantly kicking her in the shoes.
1rst day- Drink juice, gauze to soak up blood. Took Tylonol 3.
RINSE WITH CLEAR WATER AFTER SALT WATER RINSE BECAUSE I SWALLOWED A BUNCH OF SALT WATER AND PUKED IT UP!!!!!
2nd Day- Feeling good, swelling. Not too much pain. Ate apple sauce, yogurt, dessert soy tofu stuff...
3rd Day- Puked all day, felt like utter crap.
4rth Day- Feel okay now I can eat solid food but really slowly, trying to avoid pain medication because I think it got me sick. Ate some pizza! mmmm real food!

So I think it sounds better in the long run, without teeth infections and so on. Thats what made me get this surgery was because of an infection! Now that was annoying! I could not even smile it was so painful. So good luck to ya and don't fret too much, they are paid professionals!

I just had my 3rd out three days ago. They used novacane and the whole op took about 20 mins. Went back to my hotel, took out the gause and relaxed for a few hours. Then went for a beer. Didn't need any painkillers on the second day. The swelling has almost gone. Supprised to hear so many of you mention being put under for the op also talking of empty holes. Mine was stitched and they will come out when the week is up. Good luck all!

I got all four of my wisdom teeth pulled about a month ago! They were also impacted! I was terrified b/c so many people were telling me not to do it because the pain is too much! Well most of you felt nothing! I also had to get a back molar straightened b/c it grew in crooked and that's where all my pain came from but that's not even the worst! When I had got there my mom had also asked them to remove a baby tooth which was loose for many months and the permanent tooth was comming in around it! If you know what I mean... By the way I'm 14 and yes I'm very slow at losing my wisdom! I'm not sure I've even lost them all yet! Well anyways I received IV before the surgery which didn't hurt at all! The nurse said it feels like a pin poking you but in my opinion a pin pokin u feels worse. When it was done I went in a waiting room the doctor talked to my parents and I kept falling asleep from the anestesia! When I got home my mom went to drop off my perscriptions and my dad set me down on the couch! The doctors had left a message and just called again when we got home. They told my dad i had to go back b/c the doctor forgot something! u have no idea how mad my dad was. we waited till my mom got home and went back! the doctor said he had in his mind to do 5 things. pull the 4 wisdom teeth and the baby tooth! He forgot about straightening the molar in the back! Since the anestesia was wearing off they had to put me on laughing gas which isn't funny at all! You can hear like everything going on even though your out of it! I was having dreams of me going through the operation which was kinda scary! When they were down they let me go but when I was walking out of the building w/ my dad he said that I had looked really yellow. I told i was feeling really sick and I could barely move so my mom told him to take me back in and they had to give me some oxygen for about like 10 minutes or so and then I left! For like the whole week after I felt no pain from my wisdom but tons from where the molar was straightened! the dr had put a wire in my mouth by my molar and I had dissolving stitches where the wisdom teeth were! See what I mean by none of you felt pain like mine! In my opinion though if your getting ur wisdom teeth removed get all of them done at once instead of a couple at a time! If it is very painful the first time around your not going to want to go through it again! trust me!!

I just got mine out yesterday and this has been one of the worst experiences of my life so far.

The actual surgery is a piece of cake. You get there, they put these things on your fingers, stick the iv in (which doesn't hurt at all) and put a little oxygen mask over your nose. Before you know it, you're out like a light. When I woke up i felt pretty drunk and happy. They had me lay down for a bit, then my mom took me home. I was so pumped because my face didn't swell, and I couldn't feel any pain because the novicane hadn't worn off yet. The bleeding had stopped completely after 20 minutes too.

However, within 2 hours, I was definitely not happy anymore. The novicane had worn off and the pain hit me like a sack of bricks. It was so unbearable I was crying to my dad at work for the wholeee morning and afternoon. And to make it worse, the perkasets did NOTHING. I couldn't eat or drink anything. By the afternoon, the pain settled down and I was able to eat some mashed potatoes and some apple sauce, but then by 11 that night I felt sick and threw everything up.

Today I woke up and felt a lot better. I can walk around without feeling too queezy, and I can eat without feeling that sick. The pain isn't nearly as bad as it was yesterday either. My face is pretty swollen now though... I look like a fat chipmunk. No bruising or anything...yet. I hope it goes away soon.

Overall, for me it was pretty painful for the first day but now I'm doing a lot better. Don't eat too much the first day because you'll probably get sick. Rest as much as you can, and also, like other people said, be careful not to chew on your cheek when pressing down on the gauze.. you'll get gross tears in the inside of your cheek.

Well, Good luck.

i got my wisdom teeth out 4 days ago and it really wasn't that bad. i had laughing gas , then an IV, then i don't remember much. however, i swear the dentist was talking to me at one point because i remember him saying he got three out and there was only one left but he could only get it out if i calmed down. calmed down? i was friggin asleep! oh well. it must have worked because he got 'em all out.

one side was bleeding a tiny bit for a few days but i got it under control. also i've had barely any pain. it's mostly a nuisance to have these stiched up wounds in the back of my mouth. i want to eat real food! good thing the swelling started going down because i move into college tomorrow! i'm crazy for doing it 5 days before college but i needed to get it over with.

i can't wait to have a nice steak! and to get this nasty smell out of my mouth. it's nearly impossible to get rid of it. makes me sick. gross. good luck!

I'm 36 years old and had pretty much decided that despite the urging of my hygienist and dentist, I'd probably never have my wisdom teeth removed. They were all erupted (visible), pretty much straight, and once I learned how to keep around them clean, didn't really cause me any problems. That was of course until a big chunk of one of them broke off Monday night.

Well, that won't do. If they would play nice and just sit there, that's fine, but if they are going to just rot and break even though I do my darnedest to keep them clean, then out they come.

Here's the first piece of advice. Unless you don't have insurance and can't afford it, have your wisdom teeth removed by an oral surgeon - not your dentist. Even if yours are "simple", there is no such thing. My wisdom teeth were all erupted and straight - the best possible scenario, and still one of the roots broke off and had to be retrieved from the jaw. My wife had hers done about 10 years ago and they were all bony impactions (worst case). She went to an oral surgeon and had no unusual complications at all. I don't even remember her having much swelling. She needed Tylenol 3 for about 3 days - that was it.

Anyway, I was lucky enough to be able to get an appointment with the same oral surgeons that did my wife's wisdom teeth. I only had to wait a day and a half to get in and the broken tooth didn't really hurt too much, so that was no problem.

On surgery day I showed up, watched a video tape that explained all the horrible things that could happen to you as a result of the surgery, signed some forms, and got some x-rays. The surgeon then went over the x-rays with me and showed me that my upper teeth didn't look like they protruded into my sinuses (good), and my lower teeth seemed well clear of the facial nerves (also good). No further questions so we're off to the surgery room. I get hooked up to the EKG, PulseOx, auto-blood-pressure cuff, etc. -- some numbing spray on my hand and in goes the IV. A little later the surgeon says "let's get started with the 2 and 4" and before you know it I'm out.

Next thing you know, I'm waking up and it's all done. A couple minutes to clear my head, a review of the post-operative care with my wife, and off we go.

It's been almost 24 hours now. I've just been taking ibuprofen and haven't used any of the Percoset they prescribed. I have no swelling, no bruising, and only mildest of discomfort. Supposedly the third day (second day after your surgery - which will be tomorrow - Friday) is the worst, so the best (worst) may be yet to come. As it is though, I am very happy with the way things have gone.

Oh yeah, someone mentioned about not being allowed to keep your teeth. Well, I wanted mine, and they tried to give me the "the government killed the tooth fairy - we can't give 'em to you" line. I had my response planned in advance - "my religion requires that I retain any body material that is removed for burial rites upon my death". Now, some religions indeed require this (Native American beliefs perhaps?) - but I don't know which ones they are - but for yesterday, I was practicing whichever one that is (if you get my drift). That of course was an immediate override to whatever the rules are and I have my teeth. :-) Now that I can really see them, and can see how bad off they were, I wish I'd have had them removed back when my dentist first said to. All kind of pinholes and rotting and bent (not mangled) roots. The one that broke had rotted up under from the backside (where I couldn't see it or really get to it) and that's why the top broke away.

Don't wait until your wisdom teeth are bad off to get them done. The only surgical complication I had was the one root that had broken off (by the looks of it, it broke off before the surgery), which caused them to have to go "drilling for it" to find the piece. If I'd have done them sooner, I might have had an even easier time of it still.

Hopefully the rest of my recovery will go as well as it has thus far.

Hey there ya'll. I don't have a story but I have a question. We don't have insurance, and it costs a bundle to get wisdom teeth pulled. I just had 4 wisdom teeth removed. The surgery isn't bad you don't get to feel any pain. The worst part is worrying about it. The 1st day is the worst. Just remember that when your gums start hurting take some motrin and never forget to take your antibiotics. I just bleed the first day. But the worst is that I'm swollen. I have to go to school in two days and my face is like an elephant. I have to go because I can't miss classes in college. I'm just going to ignore all the weird looks Im going to get. Anyways, Remember not to lower your head much. And yes your breath is going to stink so much. This is my 3rd day and I still can't close my mouth. My tongue is sticking out I'm too swollen. Also I only eat soup let me rephrase that I have to swallow my soup water everyday (3x a day) to survive. I can't wait to get better and chew some food. I'll probably lose 5 pounds this week. Just remember the most important thing is to take your pills as prescribed.

I just got mine out on Friday, and it wasn't bad at all. It hurt like hell right after the novacaine wore off, but the Vicodin settled that. Advice: stay awake during surgery; don't get general anesthesia. This way you can actually function the day of surgery. Also it's cool to know what's going on and not feel a thing. My biggest annoyance is food getting stuck in the damn holes. It's really starting to piss me off.

I realize that like everything on the Internet posted is scary because I read a lot of stuff before I had mine out in late May. I was terrified from reading that stuff and I thought it would be hell.

So I get there (2 1/2 hours away from home) and I'm terrified. I purposely drank something (and well I wasnt told not too) and I had major surgery when i was 7 and so me and sleeping medicine dont mix (i fought it and fought it and i ended up staying in the hospital a lot longer than i should have, pry cuz they gave me a lot of it) anyways so I had all 4 done only under a local anestetic (the shots of novacane or whatever they use) that part sucked and i started gagging....

i ended up practically falling asleep, I was tired from the drive leaving at 6AM. It really was a lesser hell then the stuff I see on the Internet. I dont know if it has to do with a difference in the doctors or what because yeah i had swelling and it hurt, but it didnt compare to what people said on here though. I only took the medicine to help with the pain, but i hated it because it made me sleep and nautious.

that was my experience, 2 were impacted and 2 needed the drill. people tend to think i'm crazy for just doing the local anestetic but hey it didnt bother me much.

i realize since you've pry had them out, but hopefully it didnt go too bad for you!

I just got all 4 wisdom teeth out on Thursday evening. If you can be put under, DO IT. Its so easy that way. The only pinch is from a needle from the IV bag, then you fall asleep and wake up (it feels like 2 seconds) and you're done. You get strong pain meds and feel like a drunk after taking them but its fun. What sucks is the bad taste in your mouth for a week (I tastes like rotten meat and my boyfriend hasn't kissed me opem mouth because of it :-p). But I'm not in pain, I'm just sore. And I lost 3 pounds so thats kinda cool. I just drink Smoothie King smoothies for dinner

I got all 4 of them out on Monday. One word..OW! I felt a little woozy when I woke up and I was laughing a lot, which was a bad idea because I started gagging on the gauze they put in my mouth to stop the bleeding. I was nervous but I relaxed after. Don't worry about it! It'll pain for a few days, but hopefully your's won't hurt as much as mine did..my cheeks were puffy, friends made fun of me..it was all good lol

I had all mine taken out earlier today...I haven't really had any pain at all because i took a vicodin a couple hours after i got home before all the novocaine wore off. i did throw up but i think more from swallowing all the blood than the aneasthetic cause i've been put out before and that didn't happen and i felt better after anyway. taking my painkillers and everything it seems perfectly fine, i'm just drinking yogurt smoothies, changing the bloody gauze pads all the time is annoying but obviously it could be a lot worse.

I am just writing to thank everyone for sharing their stories. It made me fully prepared 8 days ago when I had all four of mine pulled. You were right...lots of bleeding the first day..but I felt not that bad..so I was thinking like someone wrote on here "I can eat a sandwich or have a beer , yes!" But I am glad I didn't, because the next three days I experienced dry sockets (they had to stuff this nasty strip of medicated crap into one of the holes), extreme nausea, pain that is still continuing up to today, puked 4 times, and for the grand finale I lost 7 pound in six days! It is day 8 now and my swelling did not fully go down until yesterday..one hole is still swollen and healing, so I am STILL on vicodin, but I feel 10 million times better than I did before. I spent the entire week of Christmas in bed, feeling like I was dying, while everyone else was in my house drinking coctails and opening presents..ahhh.
My advice:
-If you are in extreme pain 3 days after surgery..GO to the doctor, you could have a dry socket and it's dangerous..it means the blood did not clot properly.
-sleep...try to sleep in intervals during the day, because if you sleep all day, the meds will keep you up all night, and it sucks because it seems to make the pain feel worse.
- eat pudding, jello, applesauce, cold tomatoe soup, and about day 4 some soft grilled cheese.
-Ice your cheeks...They swell the biggest 3-4 days after surgery..then put warm moist heat on them after they are humungo on about day 4.
-if you are in extreme pain, as your doc if you can up dose your meds (like 1 1/2 vicodin and 1 800 ibprofen). He let me, which made me feel way better.
-Let people pamper you. It's fabulous..because you will look and feel like hell, have someone there to take care of you, because you sure as heck will not want to. trust me!
Good luck. It was the worst experience of my life..but I guess it is better I got it done before anything got really bad!

I had all four of my wisdom teeth out this morning. Last night I made sure to go to bed late so that when I got home from the surgery I would be able to sleep and not worry about any pain. The problem with that is that you HAVE to keep biting down on the gauze otherwise you bleed alot, so when I woke up theres was blood all over my mouth and pillow and it took longer for the bleeding to stop. The pain killers do help (i have Perkaset) but I can only take one every 4 hours and it feels like I need it more often than that. My jaw feels tight and stiff, which the surgeon said was normal, but he also said it would get worse the second day even if the pain subsided. I ate some pastina, gatorade, eggs, and a vanilla shake throughout the day. My biggest worry is getting nauseous from the pain killers and then having to throw up which would seriously burn the 4 wounds in my mouth. The surgeon said not to take anymore pain killers past the first day because they arent that great for you...so tonight Im staying up as long as I possibly can and then just zonking out and hoping to never wake up until late tomorrow. If anyone wants to ask me questions you can email me at nycall21@aol.com I was really nervoud before this whole procedure and now I feel silly for not realizing how simple and unpainful it was. dont worry people! You might even find the laughing gas and anastheshia pleasant after the surgery. i sure did.

I went to the dentist and they said I had 2 impacted wisdom teeth. So they gave me a slip to go to a specialist. My mom has to call and make an appointment for a consultation, to figure out when the time is right for me to get them removed. I figure since they are squishing the teeth together, sooner the better. But my mom wont call and I don’t get it. Does anyone have any way or suggestions to convince her? Help please!

I got my low wisdom tooth pulled, and I didn't have an IV. It was impacted and the pain itself was more than I could handle. The only thing that freaked me out was my wisdom broke off and he had to go back in and get the small part that broke. Now my top wisdom tooth on the right side of my mouth has cracked and I have to get that pulled in a couple of weeks. Nothing to worry about. If you don't want IV then get that sucker numbed like hell.

It's not too bad. I had all 4 out a week ago (all impacted). Never took more than half the prescribed pain meds.  After 4 days Tylenol was doin just fine.  The only REALLy big annoyance is the holes that the teeth leave. Food always gets stuck in there and you have to squirt it out. It's really gross but you get used to it.

I got my 2 lower wisdom teeth removed as they were impacted in bone and ruptured. I left my top 2 in as they havent even started to come down so fingers crossed they never do.... dont wanna risk nerve damage for a problem which hasnt happened yet.

Anyway, I have a phobia of anaesthesia and was TERRIFIED of the op. The worst part is waiting in the room before they wheel you in. I was shaking but kept thinking "happy thoughts".

The operation was easy as I was out like a light, and woke up quite happy and cracking silly jokes apparently. Slopped jelly & juice all down my front in the recovery area, fell asleep a million times, and in the end, was so proud that I had done it!

Its 4 days later and I still have a little bleeding and swelling and I cannot laugh much as it triggers the bleeding again. I am only on Ibuprofen every 6 hours and can only eat runny stuff. I wont lie, it does hurt, but I think it hurt just as much when they decided to poke out in the first place!

Okay this is what i beleive to be the truth

i had 4 wisdoms, and 4 molars out 4 days ago.. getting put to sleep is scary but once ur awaken your like, that was nothing.. when u come home and the freezing wears of you are in a bit of pain in your cheeks and a headache.. make sure you keep up with the pain killerss and any other medicines they subscribe forr you.. another tip, DO NOT eat rice.. i decided to have rice about an hour ago andd its still in my holes, time for the nastyy salt water.. so for foods, stick with broth, jello, pudding, smoothies, milkshakes etc. !

it's really not that bad.. just lots and lots of headaches.

Well i have my top wisdom teeth out allready they came thru crooked. The dentist at the time said we have to get these out someday well now both have tried to come in on the bottom i can see half of one and a tip of the other. Ive been having pain in the one was really bad for about a week and a half now it feels better. Might of been infected ive been cleaning it real good brush, mouth wash, salt water rinse. Ive been putting it off have to get fillings done right in front of that figure get that done and the bottom wisdoms will be the last thing i need done. Oh and i forgot to mention that he said there by the nerve and the artery so hes says i could blled or be forever without feeling in lip, teeth, and tongue

Haha.

I got mine taken out last Thursday. So it's been about 5 days.

Mine were impacted and I actually woke up during the surgery of the last tooth. I felt a slight tingle of pain as they cut the gum and flinched and heard them say 'she's waking up, give her some more anestethetic' and I was out until they were packing me with gauze. It was freaking.

And I'm still in kind of pain but not from them doing it...juts from like....rusting joints. lol!

I can't bring myself to eat solid foods really yet... I mean unless it's really slowly. I don't want to get food back there and stuck or anything.

Bleh.

Good luck!

It isn't that bad. My cousin got his wisdom teeth out and was eating chips with salsa the next day! The only thing I think would hurt is the shot... but then, it's a good thing cause they take out the teeth when you're asleep... but if you wake up,... well, that just sucks.

It doesn't seem that bad, my brother was fine, my 2 cousins were fine,... i dont know, maybe they just heal fast, but the big thing im kinda worried about is if i wake up in the middle of the surgery... That would suck! But i also wouldnt like the blood. I can handle blood, but i HATE it in my mouth! The things you bite down on are disgusting after a while, trust me, I've had to have baby teeth pulled. But im sure it'll be fine...

I'm a tough cookie with a high pain tolerance and i dont mind needles or shots or anything like that. my story is kinda funny. All four were impacted so they gave me both a sleepy gas and the iv. when i woke up my mouth was filled with cotton and i felt a little woozy and they'd told me i would before i went under. They told my mom that most girls cry and most guys just say nothing when they wake up. I started laughing histarically and trying to apologize for laughing but with all the cotton in my mouth it just made me laugh more. But i dont remember much until i got home and my mom brought me applesauce and we stuck my anti biotics and codine in it cause im a wimp at taking pills and have to swallow them in food :P  but i went into my room slept kept ice on it and had no problems until it was time to take more medicine when i opened my mouth to eat the spoonful of applesauce i just burst into tears and like 5 minutes later i was fine again. the worst part has been opening my mouth to eat, i didnt even bleed that much, i stopped completely within an hour of leaving. i just cant wait to be able to feel my chin lips and tounge again :P but honestly mate, no worries it'll hurt (more for some) but its really no biggie and you'll probobly be good to go in at the most 3 days.

Good Luck!
