Exchange 2007 SP1: Creating more than one mailbox at the same time

Hello Folks,

One of the Exchange Server 2007 SP1 improvements is that we will be able to create mailboxes for more than one existent user at the same time. We can be following these steps to see the new feature:

  1. Open Exchange Management Console

  2. Expand Recipient Configuration

  3. Click on Mailbox item

  4. In the Toolbox Actions, click on New Mailbox

  5. Select User Mailbox, click on Next

  6. Now we have a new option on Existing users option where we can select more than one user to be created at the same time.

We can see a list in the same screen a list of all selected users.

In the completion screen, we will see that all users have been created.

Best Regards,
Anderson Patricio

Exchange 2007 SP1: Managing Send As Permission

Hello Folks,

In Exchange 2007 RTM to manage Send As we had to use Exchange Management Shell. Using SP1 we'll have a handy feature available on Exchange Management Console to do that, as it follows:

Open Exchange Management Console, Expand Recipient Configuration, Click on the user, and there two new options at Toolbox Actions. Click on Manage Send As Permission..

We can add the users that will have send as permission on the selected user.

It's easy, isn't it? :)

Important: Do not install SP1 in the production environment yet, wait for the RTM Version. For more information: http://msexchangeteam.com/archive/2007/08/29/446867.aspx

Configuring Agent Logs in Exchange Server 2007

Hello Folks,

Exchange 2007 allows us to track what the transport agent are doing through Get-AgentLog cmdlet.

But we can do a little bit more in this subject, here are three Q&A about AgentLog in general. If you have more questions about this topic please feel free to send them to me and I will be answering and adding into this post.

#01. Which Transport Agents are covered by Get-Agentlog?
Here they are: Connection Filter, Content Filter, Edge Rules, Recipient Filter, Sender Filter and Sender ID.

#02. Do I need to remove the log files generated?
No, the maximum size for the AgentLog directory folder is 250MB and the maximum age for the files is 30 days.

#03. How can I disable the AgentLog?
It's easy we can edit the EdgeTransport.exe.config and there is a key called AgentLogEnabled we can set to true (enabled) or false (disabled). We need to restart the Transport Services to apply the changes.

Modifying User’s attributes using Windows 2008

Hello Folks,

Windows 2008 has a lot of new features, one of those is very useful for us (Exchange guys). Now, we don't need to use ADSIEdit.msc to change the values, we can do that through a new tab called Attribute Editor that can be found in the User's properties.

outlook- 01.png

We can also filter as the same way that we used to do in AdsiEdit.msc (Only fields with values, mandatory, optional etc..). We can be editing the specifc attribute in the same Tool (Active Directory Users and Computers, DSA.msc)
