Ah - the setting above will only reduce the amount of stuff _added_ to the log in future. So, as well as changing the setting, you'll want to delete that file (or archive it, if you think you'll use it).

I changed mine to 20 and rebooted twice now, and my file is still 1.3 gig; any ideas?

For space, also look at .wmdb, .hdmp, memory.dmp files.

Now if one could reduce pagefile.sys and hiberfil.sys, that would be going someplace.

Vista overall and generally speaking has no consideration for disk space. Mine was 470 MB. On Windows 7, its currently 1.31 MB.
