I'd like to get the Sansa to play video without using Sansa Media Converter or QuickTime. Have you been able to make this work, or do you just use the device for music?

I'm a very happy Sansa user. I think the reason I'm so happy is that I tossed the CD when I bought the thing and just plugged it in to an open USB port. The device works great with MediaPlayer 11 on Vista and XP SP2 without any other software loaded. I actually would have returned the thing if it required me to install any software like I did with my first iPod. ISVs suck!! Don't trust them. I won't use any consumer device that doesn't work with Windows straight out of the box.
