Uninstall the apple software updater.

Download just quicktime from www.apple.com/.../download. Use winzip to open the exe and extract the msi. If you just run quicktime.msi then the annoying apple software updater doesn't install. You'll never have apple software update bothering you about itunes again. You will need to be aware of the frequent quicktime updates on your own.
