Not even in the same Universe.

Well, I uninstalled my AMDS using the main method told about, here, using the Uninstall button that shows with the Change button. Works, though, thought the uninstall operation had hung up during the process.

I found this site with Google, as I needed info about the AMDS.

Using the Windows uninstaller, a window's title-bar told me that QuickTime would also be uninstalled, and I didn't want to do that.

I am using XP, not VISTA.

Prolly will be using XP for the rest of my life, would be my guess. right now, it ain't broken, so no need to fix it. The OS, that is. it is fairly dependable, as long as the System Restore works. Had to use that today, too.

re: Removing Apple Mobile Device Support

you don't need all that software and the unclassy remarks i've noticed for answers to you problem. you wish to remove applemobiledeviceservice from your computer: go to your start button, hit run, type in msconfig, hit ok, hit the services tab. find the checkbox for apple mobile device, and uncheck it. hit ok. reboot your computer. go to c:\program files, go to common files. right click apple mobile device and delete. you're done

re: Not entirely, no.

It's rarely as simple as that to properly uninstall a program. What about autorun registry keys? Or even just the configuration settings stored in the registry? Other folders and files? These are among the reasons why you should use, and developers should provide, good install / uninstall procedures or instructions.

By unchecking the service in the msconfig tool, you've marked it as disabled, but not uninstalled. So, given that Apple is crappy about writing uninstall programs, is their installer going to cope well if you choose to reinstall this later, or they include its installation with a tool you do want to install?

Rely on, and demand, developers providing good install/uninstall scripts or instructions.

re: Registry cleaners: generally bad news

I am really not going to recommend any registry cleaners up here, sorry. There are so many bogus registry cleaners that install malware, I'm not going to take that risk. Even the bona-fide registry cleaners are so often associated with killing systems that I'm going to recommend that instead of using registry cleaners, you should always work with the application support team for whatever application you're trying to clean up.

I didn't quite find what I was looking for when I clicked from Google to here, but it was worth the visit.

I always like to see debates about which OS is better - Mac OS or Windows. It obviously all comes down to opinion. In mine, I like the look of the Mac OS, it is clean, simple and for some reason I like the brushed metal look and glossy buttons. However, I definitely prefer how Windows works, something about Macs and their functionality with anything other than the intended Mac software bugs me. In fact, I agree completely with another poster, Windows XP is definitely Microsoft's best OS (at the moment I cannot speak on Win 7). Maybe that is because after 9 years of product support, it is almost completely bug-free. haha

I agree with a few other people too... If you don't like the software YOU INSTALLED, uninstall it! Don't complain about it. If you don't like certain features, do a custom installation and don't install them.. Simple as that!

re: Removing Apple Mobile Device Support

I clicked the Change button then Remove, but the progress bar went forward initially, then backwards AGAIN.
