You are so right about checking DNS first. I had two seperate incidents this week that were issues because of something in DNS. I do have to say that both times I knew right where to go which isn't always the case. :)

That's something I'm still trying to train myself from as well. Walking into a new environment and just assuming that everything had been set up properly to begin with. Second thing I'm trying to train myself on is to be more swift to check DNS. I find the majority of directory related problems stemming from DNS. Yet I'm always finding myself wandering down too many dead ends before getting to that part. Guess it is all just part of the learning curve!

Hi Askash,

It doesn't really spell it out for you like it did in 2003. That can be found in the old location which is by going to the properties of the server name in the DNS console. From there you still have the forwarders tab but that is where you will put a condition in for all other domains.

The old way offered a "All other DNS domains" option. How can you accomplish setting a forwarding rule for "All other DNS domains" in Server 2008?

I installed a server for a small business with server 2008.I'm unable to view de business domain (only) on the web via the server and all user computers on the LAN.

Do i have to configure the conditional forwarders?

Any help would be appreciated....

Hello,

I copied the xnl above to an xml file with Microsoft Visual Studio 2005. I saved the file as sysprep.xml. I open it with Windows System Image Manager and I am getting an error:

Validation error on \\server name\applications\Windows Server 2008\2008 Std. and Ent. Eds. x86\sources\sysprep.xml, line 4, column 3.

Details: the element 'unattend' in namespace 'urn:schemas-microsoft-com:unattend' has invalid child element 'settings' in namespace 'urn:schemas-microsoft-com:unattend'. List of possible elements expected: any element in namespace '##other'.

any idea?
