The idiots at Pitney-Bowes

I keep getting phone calls from Pitney-Bowes every three to six months or so trying to rent me a postage machine for $x per month.  Every time I tell them that I send out maybe one business related letter a month.  If that.  Maybe two a year. I’m not at all interested in renting a postage machine.

So today I get the phone call again.  I tell the lady the above.   She then states “But sir, you can advertise …”  I hung up.

Unless you do 1000's of mailing a month, a postage meter is a bit silly.

Hi Tony, Sorry to hear about your experience with Pitney Bowes. Two letters a year certainly does not warrant a postage meter. However, for less than 20 bucks a month, having a professional looking postage indicia instead of a stamp on your customer correspondence/invoices is important to many small businesses. And there are other advantages for any business that does much less than "1000's of mailing a month". And yes, I work for PB.

Glad to read that you were honest and stated you do indeed work for PB.   Also nice to see that PB is paying attention to comments posted out in the wild.

However the folks who get my letters never, ever see the envelopes.  The receptionist opens the envelope, throws it out and forwards the paper to the person or department responsible.   "Professional" appearance means nothing to the receptionist.

So even if I was doing ten letters a day I wouldn't bother paying money for a meter.

They call me all the time too.  What a waste of somebodies time and money.  I feel sorry for the sales people.
