Tony's Object Naming Conventions

We were having a very interest and enjoyable discussion in the microsoft.public.getting.started newsgroup with the subject Best Practice for tables? (For some unknown reason Google missed the first posting in the thread.)  I jumped in with my contrary viewpoint and was forced to explain why I do things.  As a result I created a new tips page titled Tony's Object Naming Conventions

# re: Tony's Object Naming Conventions

Hi Tony,

Like you, I prefer to add suffixes to object names so they are together when sorted alphabetically.  Although I do not use spaces, it is interesting that you do use them in Form and Report names ... and I may change my mind for these types of objects.

Using spaces does make things easier to read and there is not a problem with narrow wizards as you can stretch the Property window as wide as your screen to pick them <smile>

For Tables, Queries, and Modules (don't like spaces in filenames and often I export them to share with others), I will still use underscores instead of spaces if visual separation is desired.

Thanks, Tony, and thank you for all the links!

Warm Regards,

Crystal
